Where is your country and what is the official language? China, which is in Asia, near Korea and Japan. The official language is Chinese but we have Mandarin and Cantonese.
What is a traditional food from your country? Well Chinese food is very different from place to place, (China) is almost as big as Europe. In my part of the Country we have the most spicy food in China. We use a lot of pepper and spices. Black pepper, white pepper, some types of pepper that makes your tongue feel numb. A lot of herbs traditionally grow in China too.
What was the biggest culture shock you’ve experienced at Kalani? At kalani, eh. Um. maybe people are a little too relaxed. Because I grew up in China then lived in Sweden and usually people plan for their future and think about what they are going to do but here people really just go with the flow and take the time to enjoy life and think about what they will do next.
What do you like most about your culture? For the Chinese culture I like the food. Also, I like that my city is a very feminist city, but that is only a little city I live in, I can’t talk for the rest of the country. We encourage everyone to study and girls don’t grow up only
playing with dolls. Guys are very submissive and they listen to whatever we want them to do. You can order your (male) table neighbor to make them do whatever you want them to do. It is very common to see a woman screaming at a man on the street. They have to listen to the woman if they want to be a good guy.Something I like about the Swedish
culture is people don’t take things personally so where I work people are not very emotional so there isn’t a lot of drama. It is also a feminist country. Another thing, people from my city (in China) we also don’t say please or thank you and no one is upset by that because we are used to it. So when we ask for something we don’t say please or thank you and we don’t expect others to say that to us.

Ni hao. (knee how). Wo ai ni (whoa eye knee)
What is the national dance? Huh, there are many kind of dance in China because it is so big. There is one type of dance for each region. It’s like asking what is the national
dance in America. But one formal type of dance is people go to the piazza and people go there and dance. It is very popular, we call it square dance. It could be anything, like an exercise/dance. It could be whatever to keep you healthy.
